Financial Need-Based Scholarships
The Salt Lake Academy of Music (SLAM) Scholarship Program makes music education accessible to all students. Scholarships are awarded primarily based on financial need, with consideration for commitment and musical development. Applications for year-round programs (private lessons, rock/pop bands known as "Crew" or JamBands, and jazz combos known as "Jazz Crew" or JazzLab) open in November, and summer camp scholarships open in March, with awards requiring a signed agreement and income verification.

SLAM offers tiered scholarships covering 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% of tuition. While HUD income guidelines help determine eligibility, families outside these ranges are encouraged to apply. Scholarships apply per program, and students may receive different levels of support across offerings.

Recipients must maintain strong attendance, show steady progress, and follow SLAM’s Code of Conduct, while parents support participation, communication, and occasional volunteer involvement. Scholarships are reviewed annually, ensuring students have the guidance and resources they need to grow as musicians in an inclusive, supportive environment.
Applications for annual programs in 2026 are open now, and will close December 5, 2025. Applicants will be notified of award decisions no later than December 19, 2025.
